Is my Facebook Status a Waste of my Time?

I spent the weekend going to a seminar about productivity. Wow, was it an eye opener for me. Let me share with you what I learned…
This Company placed things that we need to spent time on into 4 quadrants: Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4.
Q1: is labeled “Necessity” and what is classified as a crises, emergency and unforeseen events. It needs to be done because there’s no way around it. Life happens!
Q2: is labeled “Extraordinary Productivity” and where we are most productive. We plan, prevent, learn and renew in this quadrant. This is the sweet spot and where we should try to spend most of our work time.
Q3: is labeled “Distraction” and where we answer unimportant emails, tasks, status posts, phone calls, text, etc.
Q4 is labeled “Waste” because it is just that. Things like trivial work, television, gaming and gossip.
I realized that, although I do not spend a lot of time in Q4, I DO spend tons of time in Q3. My business is mostly through social media so I justified perusing through peoples Facebook posts and YouTube videos as work, when I deep down knew it was me just avoiding the tasks I needed to do to grow. That was keeping me out of Q3 and spending my “work time” doing just that.
Long story short…I am a workaholic. I have learned to make the time that I truly DO spend in front of the computer, highly productive work time, and spend more time away from it and still be super successful.
So now… I must walk away from the computer because I just did some Q2 (highly productive) work writing this Blog and can now go eat dinner with my family!

Take it or Leave it!

This past week, I had the honor of attending Beachbody’s very 1st Master Trainer Audition Camp. Since I am already a successful Master Trainer (MT), I was invited to go as a mentor.

It is a very scary and exciting thing to be invited to and it takes a special person to take all of the constructive criticism and use it instead of being offended by it.

There were just about 50 invited guests and they were schooled on the art of public speaking, form and technique, and having that “Wow Factor.” Most were told; their form wasn’t big enough, their voice wasn’t deep enough, their stories weren’t told passionately enough and their socks were low enough (true story)!

Although no one knows how many will be accepted into the MT Family, I was told only about half will make it.

Interestingly enough, there were some that were given great advice on how to fine tune their skills. It was really sad to see them defend their choices instead of just saying, “Thank You.” I mean, even if you don’t completely agree with the advice, appreciate the persons offer to help and maybe try to put some of it to use. After all…if we are not growing, we’re dying!!

Learn To Sacrifice!

No one sets a goal and achieves it effortlessly! More often than not, we fail, restart, fail again and once again start over.

It takes sacrifice…and a lot of it. For instance, if you want to quit smoking…you give up hanging out with your friends that smoke. Same story if you tend to overeat and drink with friends…that becomes a rarity instead of a weekly ritual.

For me, I set for myself physical and financial goals. In order to achieve them, I had to give up eating out and watching TV. Instead, we ate at home and spent that time working or with the kiddos.

At first, I felt deprived but kept saying in a positive manner…this is better for me and my family and it WILL pay off. Guess what, it did BIG TIME!

Put Your Goals Out There!

Probably the #1 reason why people don’t reach their goals is because they keep them to themselves. You know as well as I do that people do that because if they fail…no one will know! PUT YOUR GOALS OUT THERE!

When I had a Diet Pepsi addiction, I tried to quit many times. It wasn’t until I put the numbers 60 to 1 on my bathroom mirror (for myself and my Hubby to see) that I quit drinking it for the full 60 days. It was the visual I needed to see. I looked forward to every morning being able to put a slash through the number so I (and my Hubby) could see I was closer to my goal.

~Tell your friends your goal
~Tell your Spouse your goal
~Put your goal on Social Media

The more “out there” you put it…the greater your chances of succeeding! It is easier to disappoint ourselves than it is to disappoint others!

I KNOW; with the kiddos and their games, the demanding bosses, the car that needs brakes, the friend that needs an ear and the cat that needs a bath – that you ARE BUSY!!! We ALL are!

The difference between a fit and healthy busy person versus the busy person with 20 pounds to lose is; the fit and healthy person fessed up to the fact that they know that you can eat healthy even when busy.

Here are 5 tips to help you become the Fit-Busy Person:

1)You won’t starve if you have to skip a meal. It is truly better than going through the McDonald’s Drive Thru
2)Even Convenience Stores have fruit and wraps now. It is better than the McDonald’s Drive Thru
(see the trend).
3)Put a Protein Bar in your car or bag. My favorite is the Quest Bar. If it has more than 10 grams of sugar…it is a candy bar!!!
4)When you DO get around to making something healthy, double or triple the menu and put it in containers for the next day or two.
5)When tempted to go into McDonald’s…take 10 seconds to consider how you are going to feel in an hour. You’ll be hungry again, you will have gotten farther from seeing what fit feels like and guilt will ruin the rest of your day. IT’S NOT WORTH IT!

My Story

One of my Goals this year was to open up about something I have been hiding for almost 39 years. It is painful for me to share because I have NEVER wanted pity or special treatment. Thanks to the support of so many, I’ve decided that I CAN use my story to help others. To my Mom, Diana Ferrell Crump Buster, my Husband, Mick McAllister, my Mentor, Chalene Johnson and all of my Family and Friends…thank you for believing in me and helping me reach MY potential! And of course, to my Dad for being there in spirit!!!!
